I visited my dad from California and I was anxious to try the ribs at sonny's because my dad always brags about how good it is. As we walked in we noticed the special of the day was the "ALL you can eat ribs". My party ordered 3 of those. We received our first portion late and even tho there was hardly anyone in the restaurant the waitress was very unfriendly and in a hurry. She made us feel uncomfortable when we stopped her and asked for another round of ribs. She made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by asking for more ribs. After 15 min. Of waiting I stopped her again and asked for seconds, she came back 10 min. later with 2 small ribs on a plate! By this time my dad was ready for more ribs so we signed to her again so my dad can get more ribs. After 20 min of waiting for my dads second round of ribs we call her over and ask her what's up with the ALL you can eat ribs? She replies, "it's going to be a little longer". In my mind I was thinking how can you have an ALL you can eat special that specializes in ribs and have customers wait 20 min just to have a second serving of ribs. DON'T EAT THE ALL YOU CAN EAT SPECIAL! you will not see your waitress after the first serving. Very disappointed.

My Mom loves Sonny's ribs. So when she finally made landing in Florida, we took her out to enjoy her favorite meal. We ordered the Sonny's Baby Back Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Pulled Chicken. The moment the food was placed in front of our hands, we began to eat. The pulled chicken and pork were fabulous, and needed none of the various BBQ sauces on the table to enhance the flavor. Mom's Baby Back Ribs were cooked to perfection. The hubby and I sampled with the sauces with our dishes anyway and regretted it later on that evening, as we had quite the second-chance to taste them for the past week now. I ordered the FAMOUS sweet tea along side my dish and am so glad that I did. It was fantabulous. Their corn bread is a must have and I loved the fact that I could order a baked sweet potato and corn on the cob along side my meal as well. The service was good, not too friendly of a server but she did her job well. The prices were right there, and definitely reasonable. The ambiance of the location was more divey than I expected but I enjoyed it. Love that they offer a salad bar there as well. I am sure that we will be back, as my mother has quite the love for the Ribs. However, next time, hubby and I will be sure to stay away from the sauces on the side and just enjoy our meal as it is served.

Unbelievable got here at 2pm ordered our food after 20 minutes they came and said food delayed for 25 min due to a 60 person to go order.. Why wouldn't you make the people that are dining in that ordered first their food... It is rare that we even come to this location and every time we do something always happens.. The waitresses are always nice though I will say that. It isn't there fault. Poor management...

First off, don't sit in Amber's section. We (2) visited on a Sunday at 2:30PM. Maybe 10 tables seated among 4 servers. It was dead. We ordered sweet tea with no lemon. She brought sweet tea with lemon in it. We placed our order and by the time I ran out of lives on Candy Crush, I noticed our food hadn't arrived. 25 min after ordering, the food came. My order: lunch order pulled pork, corn on the cob, fries, toast My friend's order: all you can eat sliced pork, baked beans, fries, toast Pulled pork looked like refried beans and was sopping wet as if it was on a steam table for the last 5 hours. Corn was mushy. Creamed corn on the cob must be a new thing. Toast was hard as a rock. Congratulations, you can cook fries... Sliced pork was kinda dry. Baked beans were cold. Rock toast. Fries still fine. When getting a refill on sliced pork, she disappeared, reappeared 5 minutes later, looked my friend square in the eye, started cleaning a table, disappeared, and reappeared with pork 10 minutes later. Put the first bite, of this even drier pork, in his mouth, chewed once, and spit it out. Just don't bother visiting here. You can get some good fries and if that's all you want, find some fast food. Worst Sonny's ever.

Called in an order from work - approx 10 of us - whoever was taking the order was rude and actually hung up on us. Also would not accommodate an adjustment request - fish sandwich on garlic bread instead of on a bun. Will not be ordering again from here.

This place is a poor representation of the franchise. Perhaps only their sweet tea is of note and makes them worthy to hang the Sonny's sign. I think they are far below the Sonny's standards throughout the South. I recommend going to Fort Myers if you want decent BBQ.

The Maserati needed a tire next door at Tire Kingdom so I ducked in here for some delish Sonny's BBQ and was I glad I did, here's why: * I beat the lunch time rush and that is always a SCORE! * Jane was my hottie server with the nice eyes and callipygous curves! * BBQ Turkey, Pink Lemonade and AYCE Salad Bar had me fat and happy! I appreciate the consistency of Sonny's brand all over the country, this one included. Good stuff, Cabeza stuffed!

Arrived at Hostess station, greeted and sat immediately. Upon ordering our drinks,we commented on how warm it was in the restaurant. Our Server proceeded to tell us that their a/c had been out for about 1 week, and most days were 90 degrees in the restaurant recently. We expressed our shock that they had been without a/c for so long ( we are in Florida, in August!). Our server then told us that Management "just doesn't care about it" OK- hold on BIG red flag right there.. If Management doesn't care about promptly getting their a/c fixed, WHAT ELSE is happening in there that they "don't care" about? Well, I can give you one more example. As I looked at the window cill next to where I was seated, I saw several ants crawling around, along with dead little bugs ( ants, moths, etc..). Aside from live ants, cleanliness is also suffering if their window cill has a layer of dead bugs already accumulated. At that point, I wasn't chancing on what may come out of that kitchen- after all, if we don't care enough about our customers and employees to provide a/c, and we can't keep a clean appearance in the dining area ( or bathroom for that matter)...WHAT is the kitchen like where customers can't see?

My Sonny's review: 5/19/2015 Our party of 7 decided to eat at Sonny's BBQ today after being recommended it by a friend. We are new to Port Charlotte and have been trying to establish a list of restaurants that we would frequent when the opportunity arises. We arrived at dinner time to find the restaurant quite empty. We chose to sit in the table against the back wall in the corner. Our youngest son was sleeping and in the stroller when we arrived. My wife turned a chair at the empty table next to ours so she could rest the stroller on it providing our son some neck support while he napped. My wife noticed a subtle urine like smell emanating from the exterior door next to our table after we all got seated. Our server promptly found his way to us and warmly took our drink orders. While he was away getting our drinks, another server arrived with another family and tried to seat them in the table next to ours. When my wife saw this other server was headed towards that table my wife got up and quickly began to move our son's stroller to the other side of our table. This server chirped something along the lines of "Are you planning on taking up two tables?" in an antagonizing tone even as my wife scrambled to move the stroller and turn the chair back to face the table. Meanwhile the other family saw the situation and simply said "we can sit in the next one, it's empty." with comforting smiles. Then the server turns to my wife with a frustrated look and says "Fine, but I can't guarantee that the table won't be filled later." Being that we were there with my parents and our three young children, there was so much going on that we soon forgot about her when our server returned with our drinks so quickly. Our server was quick and well informed able to answer questions without hesitation. He made the substitutions we asked for due to our boy's food allergies and got our order right the first time, then even came back with crayons and maze covered kids menus for our boys. The food arrived shockingly fast. In fact we looked at each other in shock when it came out so fast. Obviously, it was fully cooked in advanced and simply reheated when we ordered it. Ribs, an entire chicken, sliced pork, sliced turkey, garlic toast, fries, broccoli, Mac & cheese and so on... My wife really liked the mango lemonade. My dad enjoyed the Mac & cheese, We all liked the fries and I enjoyed the untreated broccoli. The ribs however were less than desirable, not being tender, flavorful, nor even fully reheated all the way through. The sliced turkey also suffered from a lack of flavor outside of the obviously plastic container it came pre-sliced in and was also served barely warm. The pork was also not served warm, though I didn't have any myself. The BBQ sauces which sat on the tables beside the ketchup came in several varieties, one being overly sweet, another being passable, and we just stopped trying after tasting the 1st two. While I didn't have any chicken myself it was the smallest whole chicken I have ever seen. The garlic bread was honestly just buttered toast, with a tiny wisp of garlic powder. I also tasted the Mac & cheese, where the cheese sauce was obviously from a boxed powder and the noodles were way too soft, like it had been sitting in water too long and started to fall apart. Before leaving, no trip is complete without at least one of the boys needing to use the restroom. It was my turn to take him, and to my surprise, the floor of the men's room was wet and icky, my Crocs even making a little tape pulling sound as I walked. I kept thinking to myself how this restaurant needed Robert Irvine from his show Restaurant Impossible on the Food Network to save it. Needless to say we will not be returning to Sonny's BBQ anytime soon. Nor will we be recommending it to any friends. I'll even go as far as saying I will not be seeking anymore recommendations from our friend who sent us there to begin with. poor quality, flavorless, reheated, barely prepared food 1 good server, 1 rude server unattractive smells bad BBQ

Friends visiting from California. I had been telling them how good the ribs were at Sonny's. We ordered 3 all you can eat Ribs (special of the day). After waiting 20 min. we finally got our first And ONLY serving of ribs. The ribs were indeed good but we never saw our waitress again after our first serving. waited another 20 min. and we all left disappointed and still hungry. HOW DO YOU LEAVE AN ALL YOU CAN EAT PLACE STILL HUNGRY? If you eat here never order the All You can eat at Sonny's..... Bad experience........

As ive eaten at Many Sonn's BBQ restaurants in fla, this one is the BEST!!!!! server Laurie is a real gem! ask for her tell her page sent ya youll get wonderful service! Amanda is another really good server at this location! the ribs are succulent and sweet, many choices for sauces and if you ASK, they will put your ribs on the grill for an AMAZING taste! The all you can eat ribs is a FANTASTIC bargain, and here's a little known fact..... if you order the all you can eat rib dinner, for your 2nd 3rd 4th rounds you can have DIFFERENT meats such as bbq chicken, pulled pork etc... so it is really a fantastic bargain not to be beat!!!!!
